Oxford Covered Market

Visitor attractions · Oxford

Historic covered market in central Oxford with over 50 independent food, drink, gift and fashion traders.

About Oxford Covered Market

Oxford Covered Market is one of the oldest continuously trading markets in the country, with its first butchers' stalls built in the 1770s and a frontage on the High Street designed by John Gwynn. It marked its 250th anniversary in 2024.

Today more than 50 independent traders operate under its roof, many of them family businesses, selling fresh produce, flowers, gifts, clothing, hats and jewellery, alongside cafés, bars and food from around the world. From Thursday to Saturday it stays open into the evening, with live music, workshops and comedy.
